Situated on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, The village of Hartfield has run a local society for enthusiastic gardeners since 1861. Today, the Hartfield and District Horticultural Society continues to promote an interest in horticulture, running a number of events through the year of interest to gardeners, and aiming to encourage more people to grow for pleasure, for the table and for the show bench.
